Empowering Students of Color through Powerful Texts

Presentation Category:
Curriculum Integration
Session Type:
CPA Session
Presentation Description:
Our duty as educators is to educate and empower students. But how do we do that when our classroom is filled with students from different backgrounds, with different experiences, and different needs? How do we get our students to realize that there is a Culture of Power and that they must acquire that power? Through pedagogical texts, reflective activities like Socratic Seminars, and projects, you can provide your students with cultural power awareness and empower them to access cultural capital.
